The Bird Is Back!

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR 2010.

The 33rd Annual Turkey Trot 8K will take place on Thanksgiving morning in beautiful Lincoln Park. The morning’s festivities will attract more than 5,000 runners and walkers, with the winners dashing off with some great prizes.

To get you into the spirit of the holiday, flap on down to a Thanksgiving Day tradition, and don’t forget to bring a couple of cans of food (or more) to help feed some of Chicagoland’s less fortunate. Canned goods will be collected at race packet pickup and the race site on Thanksgiving.

Everything from soup to nuts is welcome. At last year’s race we collected over 10,000 pounds of food. We are currently updating the site for the 2010 event. Registration has opened and you may sign up today by clicking the link at left.

EAS ADVISORY
EAS SystemThe Event Alert System (EAS) is a color-coded communication system that will communicate the status of course conditions to participants in advance of the event, as well as on race day. The Alert Levels range from Low (green) to Moderate (yellow) to High (red) to Extreme (black) based primarily on weather conditions, as well as other factors.

According to the current local weather forecast, the weather on race day is projected to be mostly cloudy, with low temperatures in the low 30's (degrees F) and high temperatures in the low 40's (degrees F), with a chance of rain/snow showers.

Based on this forecast, the Event Alert Level is Yellow, which suggests less than ideal conditions. Please be sure to dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing a dry set of clothing to change into following the race.  These conditions may change as race day approaches, so please pay attention to signage and P.A. announcements on race day.
